Whole Earth Festival
This weekend was great. Like every Mother's Day since like 1990 I went to Whole Earth Festival. Whole Earth Festival or WEF was an experiment/ class/ be-in that started in 1969 on the UC Davis Campus. It exists only slightly changed in manifestation to today where it is a Music, Arts and Crafts festival that is still student run, still free, and still kinda Hippie.

I was on staff for a couple years in the early 90's. So going back is sort of a homecoming without the football. I was never really into Aggie Football. You know art studio. Not really the same circles if you know what I mean.

Anyhoo, I saw some old friends, many of my friends are having kids 1, 2,3,4 yeah four of my friends either are pregnant or just had a kid. Crazy. And these aren't the same pregnant couples I was remarking on earlier. It must be something in the water because my peers are BREEDING. Also I found out that one of Mrs. mice's friends does not like kids. She doesn't want any of her own and she doesn't like them in general. I was a little bit blown away by this cause she seems like the most compassionate girl. I don't think having kids is for everyone, nor do I think the sole purpose of every women is to be a mother. I guess it made me realize how fortunate I am to find Mrs. mice. In another life I might have found someone I love who didn't want any children and wouldn't that have been sad for me?

So, as well as seeing friends I was asked ahead of time if I wanted to perform at Midnight Circus. I was asked nicely by one of my most fabulous friends and so I could hardly say no. Plus I had been considering retuning to Circus to do just such a performance.

When I was going to US Davis I did more than a couple Performance Art pieces. Some were scheduled, some were more guerrilla in nature. Some were at WEF, some at Circus. Some were at my dome (more on that later) some were in the Basement Gallery of the Art Building. Some were with friends and some solo. It was exhilarating do be asked to do performance. Some of mt old friends who remembered such performances of mine were there. There were also a lot of newer staff alum that had never met me and were probably bewildered by my performance.

I had considered describing the entire affair. But... I'm thinking better of it now. Suffice to say, I sang "I Should Care" and I did so in a costume. Like many, if not most of my costumes, it involved painting myself. I would upload a pic but my ISP screwed up upload so I'll have to put that up later.

In other news I have been able to feel the baby kick a couple times. Its relieves me so much to feel them kicking. Its pretty great. As long as they are kicking I know they are alive. If they are alive that is half of my worry that is unfounded.

Everyone is Having a Baby
Well, not everyone everyone but, IW, DC, my sister, and BS either are pregs or just had a baby. Lots and lots of babies everywhere. I'm just not prepared for all these babies. Yesterday Mrs. mice bought a Mr. microphone for babies. Its this device that amplifies the baby noises. Well it didn't work and that made me grumpy. I am terrified that something will go wrong and I wont get to hold my baby in my arms. Thats all I really care about at this point. When do I get to hold my baby in my arms and give them kisses? Work is totally chaotic. So much strife and politics. Gah.But I don't really care about that as much as I care about holding my baby.

If its wrong I don't care.

DD/ Netflix
I finally convinced my good friend DD that she needed to subscribe to Netflix. Netflix is great if you have never heard of it. You pay a nominal monthly fee and they send you DVD's via mail. You watch them at your lesiure and send them back when you are done.

DD grew up in Dubai and hasn't seen many of the movies that we all take for granted. Her plan is to just get it for a month and watch all the movies in the world during that time. I am hoping that she will get addicted and not be able to stop. Like a dealer, I made sure that her first months were free via a gift certificate. Hopefully she will like it, but if not, at least it won't cost her anything.

DD is a very cool, good looking, petite, Indian chick. She just got her Masters in CS. If you are a young hot Indian guy who treats women with respect and love, let me know and I might be able to do some matchmaking. Abusers and Players need not apply.

HALMG visit
I went to visit HALMG today. I wrote eariler about I wished I had been invited to participate in ritual that day. I was able to tell her today that I wanted to do that sort of thing. Of course being the awesome person that she is she was receptive to this idea.

We got to talk about our lives, our spouses, work, commuting, and more. Its was a beautiful day and we walked to downtown Berkeley. It only rained at the last minute. But even that was pleasant.

After that I did some chores including getting snow chains in case I am saked to drive to Tahoe. Some of my co-workers are going up. I am going up. I'm hoping to do some skiing and maybe some blackjack too. I predict I will miss my wife.

It’s a Shame About Ray
Ray used to be my house-mate. He is a fine person as long as you aren't his house-mate or he isn't driving your girlfriend anywhere. You can visit him here if you like. I found I enjoyed some of the various photos on his site. We love to tease him and harass him but it s all (mostly) in good fun.

Handfasting / In-laws
It was an interesting weekend. Interesting in the manner of how you might describe an ugly baby. I'm just kidding. There were no ugly babies witnessed during my weekend.

Saturday we went to my friend HALMG's handfasting. You are now asking what a handfasting is. A handfasting is a Pagano-Wiccan commitment ceremony. Its kind of like a wedding because people are committing to each other. A typical commitment length is a year and a day. If you decide a year and a day later to separate, that's OK. If you choose to renew your vows, that's even better. Often the couple's hands are tied together. This was no exception. It was a little bittersweet as HA was an old flame of mine from when I was in college. She was a good girlfriend and if I had been more mature at the time it would have been different. The most important thing though is that she was patient with me. She encouraged me to have an open mind and not to be so critical of myself. I am a better person for having known her. I was happy she had found someone.
