Terry Gross
I caught an interview of Terry Gross by Bob Edwards on XMPR. It was an interesting turn to hear Terry be interviewed rather than be the one conducting the interview.

To hear her discuss the interviews that didn't go so well was a revealing and rare glance into a woman I have grown up listening to on Fresh Air. One of the things that I have noticed that was not discussed is what I believe (unfounded) to be an intentional stammer.

No one probably has ever noticed this. Probably this is just something I made up. I have noticed though in order to soften some of her more difficult questions to some artists and celebrities on her show she will seem to reach around for the right word and even stammer a little bit.

I can't imagine that such an accomplished and prepared interviewer would not know exactly what to say. Therefore, I am forced to conclude that she must do this intentionally.

That is my theory, and I am sticking to it until I hear differently.

Microflute
That's right I just coined a phrase.

microflute: v. The process by which a female vocalist holding a microphone moves her fingers along the microphone so as to suggest the playing of a flute.

I first noticed Christina Aguilera doing this a year ago when Beautiful came out and she was singing it in Saturday Night Live and lots of award shows and what not.

Now I notice that every other female vocalist is playing the microflute on America Idol. Most especially Mikalah Gordon who I think secretly loves Xtina even though she says her fav female vocalist is Alicia Keys.

So look for this when you are watching Idol. Take a drink each time you see it happen.

Chemical Ali to be Tried
Am I the only one who thinks Chemical Ali sounds like a William S. Burroughs character?

Zombie Regan
Just got this from Rappin Robot. You know this is great news for the Republicans and Zombiophiles alike. Why should all those zombies have to live in fear of being "outed"?

Reganonmics
I guess I should weigh in on this whole Regan's death affair.

I have never had any love for this man as an actor, as my Governor, nor as my President. I amazed that so much fanfare is being created around his death. What is the deal with the boots being pointed the wrong way? Is this from some movie he was in or something? The whole thing seems weird.

I feel like I'm the only one who remembers this whole Iran Contra affair, never mind bloody Reganomics. Cut taxes to the rich and the poor then in turn will have their lives improved. How much more thin can the veil get? Did this fool anyone?

Maybe I shouldn't worry so much about the last rites of this dead president. I will say that he did have charisma. More charisma than the W and Kerry could ever amass in a thousand lifetimes. In some sick way I guess that makes all the fanfare understandable.

Don’t Cut My Head Off
OK. I commented in outrage of the hazing photos. So in for a penny in for a pound. Right?

Firstly. I am still outraged at the photos. I am an American and when American troops enter any part of the world they are representing me. This conduct is not befitting of all the other troops who do the right thing, and it certainly does not represent me. Plus there's this little thing called the Geneva Convention. Calling them detainees is a cop out. We all know they are POWs. Is it worse than having your head cut off? Um, given the choice I'd rather keep my head attached.

But please all you babies out there, a beheading doesn't make it right. We are Americans and we are supposed to be a civilizing force, not an occupier. I don't care if it reminds you of a Britney Spears video. You aren't supposed to torture and humiliate people, even if they are trying to kill you. I think that killing that man, Nick Berg, was horrifying. I don't even want to see any part of that video if I can possibly help it. This is the kind of crap I expect from terrorists. They are the bad guys. I can't imagine how this guys family feels. He sounded like a kind and generous man. No one deserves to die like that. I mean even the French make sure the blade is sharp. Jesus.

The POWs should be detained, and interrogated and be brought to justice. That's not too much to ask for. We need to get ISO 9000 certified. You know, do what we say we do!?! C'mon guys lets work together to fix this. Not try and compare ills, or justify this stuff, or cover it up. Really, my point is we are not supposed to be the bad guys. We are supposed to be the good guys. Is that naive of me? Yes, I suppose it is.
