More DNS Blues
Well, I'm still working on DNS. Never thought it could be so bloody complicated. I believe the problem was with me and that i wasn't updating my serial number properly and so my slave dns server was not clued into the fact that there were any changes that needed to be made. I hope hope hope that I have got it right. The book that I was using was Bind 4 which is about as current as a Scritti Poliiti album so I gave up on that. As always we'll see.
Last night was steak which was mostly for the mrs. mice. That girl really loves her steak. We decided to go to Outback which is close, expensive and always crowded. Regardless, there was a smile on the face of the mrs. mice after she had finished.
Last weekend we finally painted all the doors in our little place. I briefly considered taking pictures but that is just to bloggie. Also last weekend we went to a wedding and watched the supa bowl. The wedding was well quick. The ceremony lasted 4 minutes. WOW. Well I unfortunately have to weigh in that 4 minutes is just not enough ceremony for this reporter. Ok, I realize that my peers are nothing like me. By my lights if you are going to go to the trouble of getting married, it should be filled with ceremony and pomp and and sorts of clues to the dream mind that something is happening. My I have turned into such a conservative these days. Who would have thought when I was doing performance art in the UC DAVIS Basement Gallery that it would come to this.
Oh It looks my group will be going to Tahoe soon after the AV-Day party in Vegas. So two gambling weekends. I better dust off my Blackjack skills. I gotta use my flash cards. Yes, I made Blackjack flash cards.
Hope everyone is happy and well.

DNS Blues
Its been far too long between blogs. If you have been waiting, I apologize.
I have been working on trying to resolve my dns issue so that every time you go to
http://miceland.com/ you will get there first time, every time. Also when dns is set up properly mail to
mice@miceland.com will actually be recieved at my email address instead of being bounced. Right now, every other mail sent to miceland is rejected. If you have sent mail to theis address and its been rejected. I apologize.
So, I'm not certain, but I have tried something rather drastic and I am hoping this will do the trick. My initial impulse is that I set up everything all wrong. I am now under the impression is that I have set up my dns correctly and that my secondary dns server was not doing its job. Scary thought huh? We'll see.
Coming up is one our favorite parties and chance to hang out with all of mrs. mice's college pals - Anti-Valentine's Day. This years AV day promises to be in Vegas to ensure much revelry and abandon. I myself do not drink, nor do I feel particularly bitter towards the curvier sex. I am actually quite happy being married. For me its time to hang out with one of mrs. mice's best friends
Josh. If it is in fact in Vegas we are driving. I am hoping to visit Disneyland on the way down. I have not been since the Haunted Mansion/ Nightmare Before Christmas Event.
I met my new boss today and my fears were allayed(?). He is a very good guy and seems very comfortable with being a manager in the way that my previous manager never was. He seems willing to let me grow and doesn't seem like a jerk or anything. Pretty cool.
Well, Thats it for now.

Illuminati Test Card
I found this great site about the
history of the british test card. A test card is the image shown during the time between scheduled broadcasts. The american equivalent is the color bar shown after a station signs off for the night or during some sort of technical failure. As more and more stations will show paid programming all night long the test card will soon become a thing of the past.
In this light I have made my own test card with a flying eye from a german woodcut. "Illuminati Test Card" so there it is.
Weekend was brightened despite gloomy whether by spending Sunday with our good friend and my "best person" EQ. We saw
Star Trek Nemesis. Luckily I was convinced this movie would suck. I say luckily because it was a decent movie and was much better than I was led to believe. It was nice to see Patrick Stewart and the gang. mrs. mice and I were able to predict a lot of what was going to happen before it happened. A game we like to play. Hopefully it didn't spoil it for Emily or anyone else in the theater.
I did sorta make a joke during the movie. There is a love scene between Deanna and Will who are now married. Will is on top and there aren't a lot of covers to go around. The shot begins by showing their kissing faces and gradually the shot is panning down more and more you see more and more of Johnathan Frakes' (Riker) nekkid body (or a body double I'm guessing). I said it before I had a chance to censor myself and it was loud enough that a couple people laughed. "Please God, don't show his butt." I try to be good and not ruin a movie for the other people who paid their hard earned money for a movie ticket. Sadly, I hear my brother has a similar problem. I just dread the day that someone has to shout "Shut up!" at me in a movie house. Because I really would feel bad.
EQ is a good person. We realized again for the 100th time that we share a lot of values with her. That sort of begs the question, well, what values? Lets just say the that she is trustworthy, and that I consider her part of my family. I know I didn't really answer the question. But there is a tendency recently amongst some of our friends, I think, to be disrespectful. And luckily we have one friend who isn't and that is Emily. Yes I am being judge-mental, yes I should be able to accept people for who they are. I can't tell people what to do. But can I wish that they wouldn't act foolish and break each others hearts? Of course not. everyone has to learn the hard way, especially me.
I have said too much already.
So with that,

Night Gallery
Well, gallery works! Its very cool.
I added two galleries so far: funny faces and mud mask.
Still working on trying to get mail working, until then the mailto isn't going to work. Tomorrow we are meeting our new manager at work. I have to say I am more than a little concerned. I've had some good managers and I have had some bad managers. A bad manager is worse than a head cold and a lot harder to get rid of. My last manager was the best I have ever had so its going to take a lot to live up to his legacy.
Been playing lots of Kingdom Hearts. It is a spectacle, a vision. I haven't been getting a lot of sleep.
I got the new version of Mozilla. I had been thinking that my weblog page didn't work with Netscape. It turns out that it works fine with a current version of Mozilla, just not with Netscape 4.7. I tweaked the index page so that it looks comparable with IE. It could use some more work, but the first order of business is making the links work. In other words, getting all the content started.
I forgot to mention a wedding I went to. Very good friends of mine, Dave and Ellen got married after dating for as long as I have known them. I was trying to remember just how long that had been. I'm thinking like 6 years or something. Anyway, the ceremony was classy and heartfelt and since Ellen is the guild mistress (now guild matron?) of the Merrie Pranksters there was a lot of dancing - four sets- and an enormous dance floor on which to do it. Even the Morris set was good. I saw many of my old friends and regretted not doing more English Country dances. I would like to do more. I would even consider taking my Ren Faire gear out of retirement. *Horror!*
As I am wont to say,

Black Hair
I dyed my hair black. It looks very fake. I like that.
This is also a test to see if I can get a graphic into my weblog. Is it working?
I have been trying to get
gallery working. Its not been easy. I imagine though it will be worth it though. It looks, as they say, cool.
